The temple’s origin is rooted in royal lore. When Raja Deep Chand of Bilaspur (1650–1665) married Princess Lai Dei of Kullu, she began experiencing mysterious fainting spells upon arriving in Bilaspur. Spiritual advisors concluded that Baba Nahar Singh, the guardian deity of Naggar (Kullu’s capital), had accompanied the princess and needed to be ritually enshrined.
To honor the divine presence, the king built a temple at Dholra and installed Baba Ji’s Kharaun, which remain the central object of worship to this day.
