Explore Lahaul & Spiti
Spiti Valley, Key Monastery, Chandratal, Kunzum Pass, high villages & trans-Himalayan landscapes
Lahaul & Spiti is Himachal’s high-altitude wonderland — a dramatic cold-desert district of monasteries, moonlike valleys, turquoise lakes, ancient villages, rugged passes, snow peaks, Buddhist culture and unforgettable road journeys across the trans-Himalaya.
A district of ancient monasteries, cold-desert valleys, glacial lakes, high mountain passes and unforgettable Himalayan silence.
Lahaul & Spiti brings together two extraordinary Himalayan worlds: the green river valleys of Lahaul and the stark, moonlike cold desert of Spiti. It is a district of high passes, monasteries, glacial lakes, ancient villages, prayer flags, snow peaks and long road journeys that feel truly remote.
The district feels different from lower Himachal because the landscape is bigger, quieter and more demanding. Villages sit between bare mountains, prayer flags, barley fields and snow-fed rivers, while monasteries and old trade routes preserve the memory of trans-Himalayan culture.
